Everyone should ski in NY

Some of the premiere skiing areas in the northeast can be found in New York State never more than a couple of hours from Syracuse. Every major ski area has extensive lodging and snow making facilities which allow them to open around thanksgiving every year for a long season of fun. In the immediate Syracuse area there are some smaller resorts such as Greek Peak and Song Mountain which offer good skiing often at bargain prices especially with student discounts. For students at Syracuse University interested in skiing there is SUSKI The Syracuse University Ski Club which offers great deals on nearby resorts and frequent trips to larger resorts as a group.
But the daring will snowboard
When snowboarding first started it was shunned by many skiers who complained that 'boarders ruined the mountains and who believed it was just a passing fad causing some mountains to ban snowboarding altogether. Years later snowboarders almost outnumber skiers at many resorts and every mountain offers snowboarding packages. Many mountains also offer specially built courses for snowboarders only.

Skiing in NY Information
In the Syracuse area there are a number of small resorts which are perfect for the family weekend vacation. Heading south on 81 you will run into Greek Peak, Song Mountain and Labrador Mountain. In my opinion Song Mountain right outside of tully and only 20 minutes from Syracuse is the place to go. With rates often in the $20 range for a full day of skiing on all 25 trails there isn't a better bargain to be found. For information on Song Mountain call (315) 696-5711.

One of the best deals this year on skiing in New York is the Learn To Ski 123 program offered by State of New York. This program offered as part of the NYS I LOVE NY campaign offers 3 full days of skiing including lessons and rentals on any ski area in New York State. For more information call 1-800-I-LOVE-NY.
