FERAL CAT FRIENDS CLINIC PHOTO GALLERY : OUR 2ND CLINIC, SUNDAY, JUNE 13, 1999,
AUBURN, NY
Admitting 1:

Good Morning! Cats are admitted to the clinic between 9 and 10 AM
after having been trapped the previous evening. Most come in traps
loaned to the caretakers via the FCF, but some are tame enough to be
coaxed into carriers.
Admitting 2:

At the Admitting Station, surgery and liability waivers are signed and
cats receive their ID numbers. With 30 to 60 cats all admitted in a
one hour time span, volunteers at this station stay very busy!
FeLV testing:

All cats are tested for feline leukemia. Here Sharon runs the tests
after receiving blood taken by volunteers at the Anesthesia station.
Spay prep:

Anesthetized female cats are tied to tabletop surgery boards and
prepped by a team aided by students from the New York State College of
Veterinary Medicine at Cornell.
Neuters:

Male cats have their own station, where ferocious tigers become pussy
cats!
Flea combing:

After the cats are neutered, ear-tipped, and vaccinated, four
volunteers, including Ina (a caretaker of a 55-cat feral colony in
Auburn that the FCF has helped), comb every cat for fleas and check
them over for bite wounds and abscesses.
Flea Treatment:

Because of generous donations from MERIAL, the FCF is able to dose every
cat with Frontline on the back of their necks to give them long-lasting
flea & tick protection.
Recovery:

Believe me, there are few things cuter than 60 post-op sleepy
pussycats, and few more rewarding than helping so many cats to leave
healthier, longer lives. At the Recovery Station volunteers monitor
the cats, administering SQ fluids when necessary.
Group photo:

Yeah, team! Here are just some of the volunteers at the June 13th
clinic in Weedsport.
