UL Report to the University Senate, 2003:

University Librarian's Report to the University Senate, Feb. 12, 2003 (PDF). As part of a new series of invited reports to the Senate by University administration, this 20-minute report (with a bit of Q&A at the end) was presented. An additional document (PDF) was provided to the Senate in advance; included with it were the Library's organization chart (PDF) and a brief excerpt from the Library's Strategic Plan (Feb. 12, 2003).

Building Program Statements, 1999-2001:

Program Statement for an Expanded E.S.Bird Library (PDF), Draft 3B, was written for the University Space Planning Committee of which PG was a member (chair, Michael Flusche) as part of the campus space planning process. It is the most recent statement of programmatic goals for the Library's overall building plans and reflects the shift in emphasis, ca. 2000, from the Library continuing to occupy Carnegie to an expansion of ESBird to include the Science and Technology Libraries. With ESBird expansion plans at a much lower priority (out 5-6 years) it still represents programmatic intentions of the Library to the extent possible (15 Feb. 2001).

Carnegie Library Renovation Program Statements:

The Carnegie Gateway: Carnegie and the Library for the New Century (PDF) was written shortly after I arrived on campus as a statement of Library programmatic needs related to the University need to renovate the 1908 Carnegie Library Building. Though superseded by events many of the programmatic themes stated here have been carried forward (Draft 5 of December 18, 1998).
Carnegie and the Transformation of the Library (PDF) was a more public statement of these programs in The Library Connection issue of Spring, 1999. It constituted the first 4 pages of the full issue provided here (Spring, 1999).
