Welcome

You can get the source code here for the X-Windows Stochastic Spatial
Simulator, s3, maintained by Ted Cox and Rick Durrett. You
may want to check out the short README file,
or the longer TeX document README.tex
(also in postscript README.ps or dvi README.dvi format). Then get the s3
distribution s3.tar.Z
or s3.tar.gz, and
check out the user contributed models below.
The files s3.tar.Z
and s3.tar.gz
were updated on 12 Jan 1999.
There is now a new
tutorial in HTML format that
is included in the distribution.
Click on the image below for a life-size snapshot
of s3 simulating the multitype voter (or stepping stone) model.
We would like to keep track of s3 users,
so please register
when you first download. Later, when you have started (or stopped)
using the software, send mail to
Ted Cox or
Rick Durrett
to let us know how it works for you. If you have written some interesting
models for s3, and would like to make them available to others, please send
them to us. We will add them to the archive of contributed models,
s3-contrib.tar.Z
or s3-contrib.tar.gz.
If you are interested in Cellular Automata, you should check out
David Griffeath's peerless WinCA.
Finally, visit our home pages: Ted
Cox and Rick Durrett.
