I'm an Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Syracuse University. My dissertation (MIT, 2002) was about whether social norms can constrain what a speaker can communicate. My main philosophical interests are in philosophy of language (assertion, context-dependence), feminist philosophy (silencing, subordination), and philosophy of law (free speech).
