Barbara Croll Fought teaches radio-TV news courses and communications law at the S.I Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. In her professional career Barbara worked as a TV news producer at WDIV-TV, Detroit. Prior to that she was a newspaper reporter and public relations practitioner. Barbara earned a law degree and is a member of the Michigan Bar (inactive status). She's been teaching at Newhouse since 1993.
Her research interests include reporters' uses of the Internet and freedom of information issues. Barbara is the co-author of a reporting textbook (see upper left), "News in a New Century" and a contributor to "Click on Democracy: The Internet's Power to Turn Civic Apathy Into Political Action."
She is the substitute host for the weekly public-affairs show,"The Ivory Tower Half Hour", and is active in a women's group formed in Central New York after 9/11/01 -- Women Transcending Boundaries. Off-campus she enjoys reading, cooking and traveling with her husband, Nelson Price.
